Joyce Van Lines Review

Joyce Van Lines made our move so much more pleasant than I expected. The crew was terrific, they helped us in so many ways, above and beyond what they needed to do. This was our second move with Joyce Van lines, I cannot reccommend them highly enough! They were as pleasant and courteous at the end of a long day as at the beginning. Thank you Joyce Van Lines!

Our experience with Joyce was good from start to finish. Bill Adams came to our home and estimated what was involved. We knew we’d be storing things for a while, and that not everything would be ready to be stored at the same time. (Downside: a minimum charge per trip to cover truck and men.) June, in the office, was always very helpful. The same driver handled all three pickups spread over several months, and did a solid job wrapping our furniture. Everything was placed in storage vaults, which went into climate controlled storage. (Monthly billing was per vault.) When the time came for our things to be delivered, 200+ miles away, Doug kept us posted on scheduling, and walked us through our questions on the paperwork. Our preferred driver was not available, but the weekend team we got was just first class — 3 Joyce employees who came with the truck, two people hired locally. They worked together and hustled to get everything off the truck and into the house ahead of coming rain. They were there another few hours assembling things, rearranging furniture and arranging in our basement the boxes we weren’t ready to unpack. They were good at what they do, but also listened to what I knew of how one big complicated old dining room table needed to be reassembled. They covered our new light-colored carpeting. The estimate turned out to be higher than the actual weight, and our credit card was charged the day they loaded from storage, for the actual weight of our goods.

Based on our experience, we recommend Joyce without reservation.

There’s a reason I repeated go to Joyce Moving. The employees are professional, competent and eager to make sure the move goes as smoothly as possible. From the estimate process, paperwork, inventory and the actual move itself, there was no mis-steps and everyone was really friendly too!! I only go out of my way to leave reviews if I’m given spectacular service – I know I can count on Joyce for every move to be great and give me one less thing to be anxious about during a move.

Very efficient service that is considerate of hourly rates. Credit was applied to our account very quickly. We couldn’t believe the crew was able to get some of our furniture up/down stairs as they did. We were just as happy w/Joyce as we were a few years ago during a previous move. However, I wasn’t surprised our experience was so positive, as the corporate movers I worked w/at at a previous job were w/Joyce and coordination was always easy (typically we had something to laugh about too).

Do not waive the check-off process at delivery!

Your crew will try and try to get you to sign it to speed things up, but if you do, and you later find items missing (as I did), your claims for those items will be denied.

I’ve moved a lot since I was in the Navy but this was the first time I could choose my moving vendor. Joyce had the best price and best customer service. They worked the delivery schedule around my house closing so there were no additional storage costs! I was very pleased with my move and give them my endorsement.

We have used Joyce twice for a move. Once was a short move in 2001. When we move in April I went to Joyce again based on their performance in the prior move. We were not disappointed . The entire process was professional – the quote was thorough and fair. They were on time and asked thoroughly. We have a few pieces of quality furniture and art pottery. They packed these very carefully. We moved 400 miles. They delivered as promised and unpacking was efficient. They used on truck for our goods – it was not offloaded or shared.The crew was helpful. No issues. we would use them again.

We used Joyce Van Lines for a local move in CT in April. Their web-conference walk through was very convenient and their quote was clear and the price was competitive. Positives – Execution and Timeliness

Negatives – All the sneaky, hidden fees. This trend seems to be across the industry but there is still no excuse of giving an estimate and understanding that these would be all the charges, then sending a final bill that includes a bunch of unexpected fees, such long carry, packing, etc. Also the invoices make no sense, as the company uses different providers this and the estimate. Finally, customer service is slow to respond. The refund was sent almost a month later after receiving my shipment. Oh and a desk was broken.

There have to be better options out there.

My family and I used the services of Joyce Van Lines on several occasions during the past two years, moving first from Indiana to Connecticut and then, in the following year, from Connecticut to New York City. The moves were done on time, in a very professional manner, by courteous, helpful and careful employees of Joyce.

I believe that a true mark of a fine and responsive moving company may not necessarily be: “Did all items [in our case and in all our moves, there were over 1,000 line items on the inventory sheet] arrive in exactly the condition they were packed and transported?” We did sustain relatively minor damage on several items….but I believe a true mark of a fine company like Joyce is their responsiveness to clients, when they have to fix something. The Joyce team worked diligently and quickly to fix two items….and make a good move an excellent one,

If you’re moving, hire these guys. Joyce Van Lines was professional, charged a reasonable fee, and all in all, knocked our move out of the park! They adhered extremely close to their original estimate, which pleased me to no end, and their team of four men worked quickly, safely, and with care to move our belongings. I honestly can’t say enough good things about these guys…they made a super stressful experience so much better for my family!

I don’t ever want to move again, but that’s only because I. hate. moving. If I do, however, I will not hesitate to use Joyce Van Lines, and I will recommend them to any and every person I know of that’s moving. Best money we’ve spent in a long time!

First of all, this is an honest review by an actual consumer who used Joyce Van Lines for a cross-country move. I have given them five stars because quite frankly they are a fantastic company which provides EXCEPTIONAL customer service.

We used them for a move from LA to DC in 2010. They were able to accommodate us on very short notice. The move went flawlessly – we had NO damage; NO lost possessions; and everything arrived on time, as scheduled. The team was great and extremely polite.

I wanted to use them again for a move we are about to do from DC to FL. I will this time being using another moving company for this move to respect my new company’s relocation process; however, I just wanted to make a point about the outstanding customer service from Joyce.

Bill Adams sat on the phone with me and answered all the questions I had about using Joyce again; however, he also answered questions I had about the other companies and RECOMMENDED one for me.

He told me to go with what my new company would like as they have contracts, and to use him next time. He didn’t push me and gave me ADVICE on the moving company he recommended.

Who does that? That is top notch customer service from a company that just wants you to have a good experience – regardless if they are not the ones moving you.

I HIGHLY recommend this company. And will use them for sure in the future if I am doing an individual move.

Used them for a move from CT to CA in 2011. I have moved several times, everything went well. I was planning to pack everything myself, but didn’t manage to finish it and they quickly packed the renaming things. I had only pleasant surprises in the move! They were extremely helpful, unpacking major things and moving furniture within the house.

I contacted them initially because they had a good rating with the BBB in CT. They did a walkthrough on a Monday and they were packing my stuff up that Thursday. Their initial quote came in at $1500 below the next lowest quote I got. My stuff did end up weighing more than they initially estimated. However, I don’t hold them accountable for that. First, I had them move a few items that I thought I’d be taking with me in my car. Second, I had several boxes under my bed; while I told him about them, the salesman couldn’t see or open them for himself.
Everything made it through just fine. The worst thing I found in my unpacking was a crack in the cap of a mouthwash bottle. I’d use them again, probably without bothering to get quotes from any other company.

This was the first time we could not move by ourselves. What a scary proposition after hearing about moving company nightmare experiences. We interviewed and received many quotes from very well known companies. However upon checking on line reviews of these companies YIKES!! In our research for a quality cross country mover (3000 miles) a company named Joyce kept showing up with good reviews. We called the Redlands Ca office and from that point on any doubts or fears we might have had were gone. From start to finish everyone we dealt with in this company were professional with customer service a top priorty. Our move could not have gone better. Couldn’t have asked for better. Moved from NYC to Minneapolis, and these guys did everything they said they were going to. They showed up at my Manhattan apartment on time, loaded everything, and took off. They delivered to my new Minneapolis apartment within the window given to me at the start of the move. Everything arrived in good shape. The move was a bit less expensive than the estimate, so they refunded my credit card – as they said they would. Bill Adams came to my NYC apartment and gave me a reasonable move estimate in a professional manner. June was the rep I contacted with questions while my stuff was being stored and moved, and she always responded promptly to my questions. It’s a scary thing trying to find a reputable mover; you read so many bad things. I’m glad I went with these guys.
